Another Plastic Nightmare – The Barbi Twins
Named after the Barbi doll no less – a plastic
phony reality. With unbelievable dimensions and extreme hair and
postures these twins represent well the excesses of the superficial 90s.
From a distance, and with the help of lighting, makeup and photography,
everything looked great, if a little surreal in their photos. But
looking a little closer and you might be a little frightened. Butts,
cheeks, and lips of plastic, they are Frakensteinas of surgery. Let us not ask what might be altered,
is any of it real? With those wide-eyes and strange faces it makes you
believe even more that if you pricked them with a needle all the air
would come hissing out as they deflate.
